The movie is a comedy about an impossible romance between a young Basque woman and a man from Andaluc\u00eda. The cultural differences between them are so great that they could be from different countries.<\/p>\n<p>Rafael\u2019s roommate, a young Andalusian man, has just found out that Rafa brought a young Basque woman home last night. He is shocked because he thinks all Basques are terrorists.<\/p>\n<p>In this clip you\u2019ll hear some examples of Andalusian speech. For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>quillo\/a, from chiquillo\/a, an informal form of address<\/li>\n<li>the pronunciation of participles ending in la \u2013d-, as in<\/li>\n<li>liao (liado): in a mess\/tied up with something<\/li>\n<li>perd\u00edo (perdido) lost<\/li>\n<li>dorm\u00edo (dormido) asleep; slept<\/li>\n<li>amamonao (amamonado) clueless, hopeless<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other words and expressions you\u2019ll hear include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>liarse con alguien: to get involved with someone<\/li>\n<li>tirarse a alguien: to have sex with someone<\/li>\n<li>t\u00eda \/t\u00edo: colloquial form of address<\/li>\n<li>estar amamonao perd\u00edo: to be totally dumb<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rafa, where were you, mate? Because the last time I saw you, you were with the Basque girl, or maybe you got involved with another customer.
