Jos\u00e9 explains some common \u00abfalsos amigos\u00bb in English and Spanish (words that are easily confused because they are very similar, but don&#8217;t have the same meaning). \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Hello and welcome to Real Spanish! Today we bring you some examples of <em>falsos amigos<\/em> (false friends), that is, English words that sound similar to Spanish words but have a different meaning, such as <em>embarrassed<\/em> (which in Spanish means<em> avergonzado\/<\/em>a) and <em>embarazada<\/em> (which in English means pregnant).<\/p>\n<p>Another false friend that confuses a lot of people is<em> \u201c<\/em>eventually\u201d, which does not mean <em>eventualmente<\/em> as one might think, but should be translated as <em>finalmente, al final<\/em>. <em>Eventualmente<\/em> means \u201coccasionally\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Other words often confused are \u201cexcited\u201d or &#8220;exciting&#8221;and <em>excitante<\/em><em>.<\/em> \u201cExciting\u201d normally translates to <em>emocionante <\/em>in Spanish; be careful with <em>excitante<\/em> because it often has a sexual meaning.<\/p>\n<p>Also the English word \u201cactually\u201d does not mean <em>actualmente<\/em>, but <em>en realidad<\/em>.
