Note: the software knows only one answer, although several are possible. Memorize the vocabulary exactly as it appears in the list in each lesson, but when you come to do the Quizlet activities, note these recommendations:
• Don’t put the articles of nouns in Spanish (el, la).*
• Don’t put “to” in front of English verbs (e.g. “to pass”).*
• Words and phrases in brackets are not part of the answer, they are clues or alternative meanings.
• You need to capitalise or put accents where necessary.
• You need to think about grammar: for example, singular or plural, gender, and verb forms.
• Real Spanish tasks correspond to British English (i.e. ‘neighbour’, not ‘neighbour’).
* The reason for this is, Quizlet offers hints if you get stuck. But the hints consist only of the first 2-3 characters, so if the answer is “to overwhelm”, only “to” will appear as a hint, which is no help at all. Likewise, if the answer is “la policía”, only the article “la” is given as a hint.
However, in the vocabulary lists you will see the articles , “el”, “la”, etc. because this way you are more likely to remember the gender from the beginning. You’ll also find “to” in front of verbs in English, to distinguish verbs from nouns when they are the same: for example, the verb “to jump” and the noun “jump”.
